From: Vincent van Gogh
To: Theo van Gogh
Date: The Hague, Tuesday, 30 May 1882
Amsterdam, Van Gogh Museum, inv. no. b225 V/1962
Date of postmark: Tuesday, 30 May 1882. Jo van Gogh-Bonger dated it 31 May in Brieven1914 – she probably based this on the Paris postmark, which is also on the postcard (the other occasion when she adopted the date of the received stamp was with letter 872).
Postcard (5 cents). Postmarks: ‘’SGRAVENHAGE 9-10 V / 30 MEI 82’ and ‘PARIS 3 (60) 3 / 1E.31 MAI 82’. It is addressed to ‘Monsieur Th. van Gogh/ 5 Rue de Laval/ Paris.’ Van Gogh probably wrote in English because the card could be read by anyone; cf. in this connection letter 223.
